Avoid State Farm, Berkshire Hathaway, Geico, AIG, Nationwide, Allstate, Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Chubb, The Hartford, AM Guard, Farmers, and Lloyd’s of London. All are invested in fossil fuels.

Green America has an Insurance Directory rating different companies by state. The Grade A rated companies in CA include: CSAA (AAA), and Wawanesa. Note that Wawanesa doesn't offer homeowner's insurance in our area but AAA does.  Not quite as free of fossil fuels, but worth considering if you need more options are Amica Mutual Group and Mercury Casualty Group.

In today’s climate-fueled volatility for home insurance, it might be advisable to work with an independent agent as you do your research. Lower rates are often available for insuring both your home and your car with the same company. Be sure to factor in that Rossmoor is a “Firewise Community,” which provides a small discount.
